In this episode, Rob talks with Silvia Gore, a South Sudanese teacher, mother of five, and community leader now living in Egypt.

After fleeing her home in Juba in 2017, Silvia began a journey through Sudan that eventually led her to Cairo, where she continues to teach and serve fellow refugees.

She founded The Friendship Initiative for Women and Children Development, creating spaces of learning, belonging, and hope for South Sudanese women and children.

Together, they talk about resilience, faith, and rebuilding life in a new land.

About Silvia:

Silvia Faridencio Gore Lado was born in Khartoum, Sudan, and is originally from the Equatoria region of South Sudan. She is a teacher, community leader, and founder of The Friendship Initiative for Women and Children Development in Cairo, Egypt.

Silvia completed her education in Sudan, earning a Diploma in Information and Public Relations in 2001. She is married and a mother of five — two girls and three boys. In January 2017, Silvia and her family fled their home in Juba, beginning a long journey through Sudan before resettling in Egypt.

Since then, she has continued her work as a primary school teacher and serves as Chairlady of the Greater Equatoria Union for Refugees and Immigrants in Egypt. Through her leadership and advocacy, Silvia helps displaced women and children rebuild their lives through education, belonging, and hope.

Outside her work, she enjoys volleyball, drawing, listening to music, and connecting with others through social media.
